I'm an Instructional Design Supervisor for the Center for Teaching, Learning & Mentoring at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. I design in-person, blended-learning, and online courses, and act as a consultant for instructors teaching across a wide range of disciplines. I also manage teams other instructional designers for large scale projects, spearheading the design of several portfolios of program-linked courses across the university and coordinating their launch. Examples include the Include, Engage, Challenge course renewal program, and the new MS in Data, Insights, & Analytics degree. In addition to academic coursework, I’ve partnered with University Health Services to design and develop a number of their mental health and intervention trainings.
I have an arts education background, and earned my master's degree from UW–Madison. My research was on performances of control, power and surveillance in networked groups, and production techniques using mobile interfaces and augmented reality, including interactive theater for youth. I've written a few things about this, and made a few of my own.
Prior to the CTLM I worked in a number of positions related to technology and education. This includes the Online Course Production team at DoIT Academic Technology, the UW DesignLab, and the Overture Center for the Arts OnStage program. I created and led a number of themed interactive learning programs in public libraries, and worked as an actor and tour manager for various theatrical productions around Wisconsin.
I enjoy biking, video and tabletop games, travel when possible, keyboards (mechanical and musical), dogs, chinchillas and archaic science fiction.
